The IIM (Amendment) Bill introduced in Lok Sabha will dilute the autonomy of the premier business schools. It will give power to the Centre through the President to hire and fire IIM directors. It does not augur well as much of IIMs excellence is because of the autonomy it enjoys.

The NCT Services Bill, which seeks to replace the ordinance negating SC judgement giving AAP control over services, further dilutes Delhi government’s authority. Now it includes appointments to statutory bodies and commissions constituted under a state law. This is a brazen affront to SC ruling and spirit of cooperative federalism.
