Govt addressing only the ‘balconied’ classes, overlooking labourers, is arrogant & dangerous

The central government has overlooked the migrant labour again, underlining an essential feature of Modi politics. Address only the ‘balconied’ middle classes, while the rest can be compensated later in kind. It is arrogant and dangerous. Governance can’t be all about how you can get the votes in the end.

  1. State govts, which want to extend lockdown for 2 more weeks, do not have any responsibility for the labour stuck in their states. It is only central government to rescue them for safe transport to their villages. Good logic by Print Team. Balcony logic. Why is it necessary to repeat stupid statement of drama fellow Kamalahaasan.

  2. State capacity nahin hai. “ Hundreds of migrant workers and daily wage earners have taken shelter under a bridge on the banks of the Yamuna. For over a week they are living on one meal a day provided by a Gurudwara nearby. “ NDTV. 2. From the time migrant workers and their families started walking home, my submissions have been, Assist them with transport, let them reach their villages swiftly. Aur kuchh bahut zyaada umeed karna vyarth hai. Wohi ho raha hai.

  3. Feed the poor … By the grace of God, many Indians of good conscience, by no means only the affluent, are doing so. However, that expression makes it clear that the poor are not being directly addressed. How migrant workers have been treated is distressing. The heaviest weight of the two lockdowns is being shouldered by those who literally live from day to day. Difficult to make the case that they are the central focus of planning so far. Seeing them trekking wearily home, Marie Antoinette would have exclaimed, Arre, yaar, yeh itni saare log aa kahaan se gaye.

    • No one gives two hoots about migrant workers in India. Under paid, over worked, disrespected. Anxiously hopeless in a pandemic crisis these people are left to fend for themselves. Furthermore, a looming economic crisis means more wage cuts, less jobs, SMEs will get wiped out, future seems bleak.
