Karnataka HC order that hijab isn’t an essential Islamic religious practice and that schools/colleges are qualified public spaces to insist on freedom of expression is well-reasoned. It hasn’t banned hijab and that’s a critical judicial nuance. Everyone should respect this intervention for now until Supreme Court has the final say.

Congress punishing state chiefs for poll losses a poor attempt to deflect criticism from Gandhis

It’s supreme irony that Sonia Gandhi should ask Congress presidents of five states to resign for the assembly election debacle. They deserve to be ousted but principle of accountability must start from the top. Making state Congress chiefs fall guys is a poor attempt to deflect criticism from the Gandhis.
