  1. The caveat being that the West does not equate the lives of people living in developing countries with those in their own, even if these are lost in acts of terrorism. Consider how differently they respond to loss of precious civilian lives in Ukraine and Gaza. It is only now, after almost three months of stoppage of food and water that France, Britain and Canada are speaking up.
