Supreme Court is right in quashing the one-year suspension of BJP MLAs in Maharashtra. Unruly behaviour of public representatives can’t be condoned but their arbitrary suspension to suit ruling parties’ interest is unconscionable. Presiding officers of legislative bodies, including Parliament, shouldn’t undermine these institutions with their undemocratic and partisan conduct.
