The minister, who received praise for his ‘achievement’, later deleted the Facebook post

BJP’s cabinet minister from Chhattisgarh, Rajesh Munat, posted a picture Tuesday of a bridge he claimed to have built in Raigarh district of the state on his Facebook page. But the photo Munat shared was actually that of the Cầu Cổ Chiên Bridge in Vietnam.

The bridge was originally completed in 2015, and the picture was also included in a government report in 2016.

Munat’s post, which has now been deleted from his official account, was first uploaded with the caption Construction of bridge on Kelo River, District Raigad Lamdaraha Marg”.

The Chhattisgarh minister holds important portfolios including PWD, Housing, Environment, and Transport. The post from Munat’s verified account was shared over 150 times, with over 2,1000 likes on Facebook before it was removed.

Before deleting the post, the Minister had also personally replied to several comments on the post that congratulated him on the ‘achievement’.

One user, Rituraj Singh Dixit even commented,Kam se kam ye real pic to dikhate hai kuch log to videsh ke road ka pic upload kar Rahe hai (At least he is showing a real pic, some people just upload images of the roads in foreign countries instead”(sic), to which Munat thanked him in the comments.

(Rituraj S. Dixit’s comment highlighted from the original post on Rajesh Munat’s verified Facebook page.)

When contacted Chhattisgarh’s PWD Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh, responded by claiming he had no knowledge of the Facebook post.

Multiple calls to the minister’s office and residence were answered by staff who said Munat was unavailable for comment.
