It is quite worrisome to see political parties eyeing vote bank are promising and providing freebies. Such freebies are affecting the state’s financial health. Examples are many such as Karnataka, Punjab etc. etc. How can we as country stop such practices. The actions I suppose are multiple, voter education, financial governance and if possible electoral laws, may be something more. Something needs to be done immediately to overcome this menace, which will otherwise pull our nation back by decades. For which, debate in print and electronic media needs to happen right away.
