TAIPEI, May 16 (Reuters) – U.S. arms sales to Taiwan have always been a cornerstone of regional peace and stability and are something confirmed in U.S. law, Taiwan Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi said on Saturday.

Taiwan will continue to communicate with and understand the situation from the U.S. side on what is happening with further arms sales, he told reporters in Taipei.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he has not decided whether to proceed with a major weapons sale to Taiwan, adding to uncertainty about U.S. support for the democratically governed island following his trip to China this week.
