MADRID (Reuters) -Emergency telephone lines to the police, fire departments and health services in several Spanish regions were down on Tuesday morning because of a widespread telecoms glitch.

Emergency services in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Valencia and the Basque Country reported disruptions in messages on their accounts on the social media platform X.

The city hall of Vitoria and the provincial administration of Alava also said their landlines were down.

Spain’s largest telecom company Telefonica confirmed that the voice service over landlines was partly disrupted on Tuesday morning because of an “incident”, though most services were being reinstated by late morning.
