Kathmandu, Aug 5 (PTI) An Indian national was arrested on Wednesday in Nepal’s Kaski district with 145.27 grams of brown sugar, police said.
The accused, identified as 40-year-old Chandeshwar Mahato, a resident of Motihari in India’s Bihar state, was apprehended from Sirjana Chowk in Pokhara during a raid carried out by the Anti-Narcotic Drugs Bureau on the basis of a tip-off, according to a Nepal Police bulletin.
Police said they seized 145.27 grams of brown sugar, a digital weighing machine and a mobile phone from his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mahato was allegedly supplying the narcotic substance at different locations in Pokhara.
Police suspect that he was operating the illegal drug trade under the cover of a restaurant, Mandal Restaurant, run by him at Sirjana Chowk.
