New Delhi: The British Embassy is seeking bids for a new research project that aims to promote sustainable mining and human rights in Peru. This is part of the UK’s commitment to promoting responsible business practices and to support the government of Peru’s efforts to implement the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, a press release revealed.
The research project will provide a comprehensive assessment of the current state of formal and informal mining and human rights in Peru, with an emphasis on OECD guidelines. It will also map the existing mining and human rights ecosystem, including the barriers and facilitators of action, and provide technical assistance to relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of voluntary commitments on business and human rights.
The project is expected to be implemented by 2025 and has a budget of up to £60,000.
The UK is committed to promoting sustainable development and human rights in Peru, and this project will help to strengthen the UK’s reputation as an ally to sustainable growth in the country. Results from the project should inform partner interventions and policymaking, further strengthening the UK’s reputation as an ally to sustainable growth in Peru, the release added.
