New Delhi: Gavan Reynolds AO is the new Australian Border Force (ABF) Commissioner. He will take over from Michael Outram APM on 10 November, a government press release revealed.
Reynolds has served in the Australian Defence Force for over 40 years, most recently as its inaugural Chief of Defence Intelligence. He has previously also served as Australian Military Representative to NATO and the European Union, and as Head Military Strategic Commitments in the Department of Defence. According to the press release, Reynolds was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force.
“Mr Reynolds is well equipped to lead ABF through the current complex operating environment and meet the challenges of the future,” the release added.
The Albanese Labor Government congratulated Mr Reynolds on his appointment and thanked Mr Outram for his leadership of the ABF.
On his appointment, Reynolds said, “It is a privilege to lead the Australian Border Force and the dedicated people protecting the national asset that is our border. I look forward to working closely with the Department of Home Affairs and across Government to deliver prosperity, security and unity for Australia.”
