ONGC, HCL among few that bagged an award at TheCSRUniverse Social Impact Awards 2022

HCL Foundation, ONGC Foundation, Tech Mahindra Foundation, American India Foundation, Buddy4Study, Manipur Government and Vedanta Group’s Sesa Community Development Foundation are among the 21 winners of the much awaited 2nd TheCSRUniverse Social Impact Awards 2022.

The Awards across the different categories were announced on the 2nd day of TheCSRUniverse Social Impact Conference, which was held on September 8-9, 2022. During the two-day conference, industry leaders and NGO thought leaders discussed the emerging challenges in the sector, scope of policy improvements, and the way forward towards making the social sector initiatives more inclusive and impact driven.

There were 5 winners in each of the three major categories – Education, Health & Sanitation, and Skill Development & Livelihood.

TheCSRUniverse Social Impact Award 2022 winners in the Education category include Newgen Software Technologies, Buddy4Study, Tata Steel, DMart and American India Foundation. In the Health & Sanitation category, the winners include Manipur Government, Jivika Healthcare, Godrej Consumer Products, Adani Wilmar and ITC.  The Skill Development & Livelihood category also has five winners including ONGC Foundation, Sesa Community Development Foundation (Vedanta Group, Sesa Goa), American India Foundation, HCL Foundation and Bosch. Further, the winners in the remaining categories included Tech Mahindra Foundation (Support to Differently-abled), Manjari Foundation (Empowerment through Microfinance), HCL Foundation (Promotion of Sports), Nestlé India (Initiative for Sustainable Environment), PeriFerry (Women and Child Development) and Lakshyam (Women and Child Development).

Ruchika Kumar, Editor, TheCSRUniverse, congratulated all the winners on their highly successful social initiatives and wished that all the winners succeed in their social mission. “It is heart-warming to see so many good initiatives are being taken by corporations and non-profit organisations.  We at TheCSRUniverse are also amazed to know the inspirational work being done by so many organisations. This Award has brought due recognition to the strategic approach and innovative ideas of corporates, implementation partners and other stakeholders towards bringing social change,” Kumar said.

The grand jury panel for this year’s TheCSRUniverse Social Impact Awards included eminent academicians including Dr Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee; Dr Archana Shukla, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow; Dr. Himanshu Rai, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore; Dr. Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti, Vice Chancellor, The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata; Dr. Pratima Murthy, Director, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS); Mr R.C. Mishra, IAS (Retd), Vice-Chancellor, National Sports University; Dr. Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi; Dr. Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru; and Dr. Umakant Dash, Director, Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).

The Awards were announced after a 3-month rigorous multi-layered selection process led by the expert jury panel to pick the best social projects under different themes. This year, the Award organising committee received a total of 152 nominations, including 29 editorial nominations, out of which 112 nominations were found valid. A further shortlisting was done for jury evaluation round after which the winners were announced.
