Every time campuses such as JNU and Jamia erupt into protests, students are told to study not agitate. But can world ideas be fitted into a nationalist framework?
By turning a blind eye to the snakes in his own backyard, Trudeau is setting the stage for a disaster of epic proportions for his country, his people, and the world at large.
In Episode 1544 of CutTheClutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta looks at some top economists pointing to the pitfalls of ‘currency nationalism’ with data from 1991 to 2004.
Among 19 Indian firms sanctioned by US Treasury Dept was Lokesh Machines Ltd accused of coordinating with 'Russian defence procurement agent to import Italy-origin CNC machines'.
While we talk much about our military, we don’t put our national wallet where our mouth is. Nobody is saying we should double our defence spending, but current declining trend must be reversed.

Make universities non political spaces. Maybe they should set an example by immediately disbanding their student wing!
All that we want every student in government funded university to do is to study, learn and go out. All other activities, particularly politics, agitations etc can be done outside the study hours and outside the campus. Why are there protests only in JNU, Jamia Millia, Jadavpur Universities and not in Ashoka or Lovely or Symbosis universities? Why are the protesting students mostly from humanities streams and not from STEM stream? The simple answer is that these students are enjoying a good life at the cost of tax payers money and are allowed to do any nonsense, including anti national seditious activities. It is high time the Central Government closes down humanities area of all universities funded by it, give VRS to the teaching staff and spend the money saved on improving primary education. Central government should have a free Youtube channel with lectures for each subject for under grad, to MPhil and have a any time online test for giving degree certificates, This will allow these students to be free to do all the extra curricular activities, including chanting of Preamble to the Constitution, shouting slogans etc. After all, politics is a 24X7 game and every student must remain ever vigilant to protect Indian democracy! But there is absolutely no need for state funded higher education in areas other than STEM!!.
Ever wondered why most of the terrorist leaders and bigoted minds in the world comes from your so called STEM education ?Humanities education imbibes humanism which means care and love for fellow human beings and that gets reflected in the students politics. Man is a political animal.

I believe a political voice should exist in everybody and perhaps exists most of the time, except for the situations where the need for survival takes care of political silence. Within the closed walls of universities, open places are definitely a hot-bed of idealism and romanticism of ideologies, and the bedfellows are usually non-strangers with strange perceptions. While agree with the RN Tagore’s quote on scholarly pilgrims taking up multitude paths and helping create an enlightened society, there is a strong need to have sensitive political leadership as University bearers and political decision makers outside the university system, and help guide the young minds which are not ready to understand the nuances of larger political needs of a nation-state or a state-nation.
Not on taxpayers money!!! since these students are all adults, so earn like every other adult, pay your tax and do revolution. Otherwise, our children, 40% of them, are the more deserving candidates from taxpayers money. Otherwise, it is just an organized loot.
Students can do whatever they want, study, protest, whatever as long as they do it on their money and not on taxes paid by hard-working people and not within the campus. They can protest within the university campus on matters strictly concerning them as students of that university or course.
