If Captain Anshuman Singh’s parents are criticising their daughter-in-law in the media, they were likely doing worse in private. Smriti’s silence has allowed Indian uncles and aunties to skewer her.
Indians see West Asia as one uninterrupted wash of Islam, but the reality is more complex. For the Druze, support from Israel—where they are a recognised minority—is now critical.
Mini deal will likely see no cut in 10% baseline tariff on Indian exports announced by Trump on 2 April, it is learnt, but additional 26% tariffs are set to be reduced.
India-Russia JV is also racing to deliver 7,000 more AK-203 assault rifles by 15 Aug. These are currently being made with 50% indigenisation and this will surge to 100% by 31 December.
Public, loud, upfront, filled with impropriety and high praise sometimes laced with insults. This is what we call Trumplomacy. But the larger objective is the same: American supremacy.
I don’t agree with this outcry on misogyny completely.
It was very one sided.
You are just putting things in wrong light, putting guns to the other side by playing blame game.
The parents have also lost their son so their demand for the hold of mahavir chakra is justified. They have said that the fight is not for money. As the parents of a soldier who laid his life for the country or better rephrased as the parents who lost their son forever for this noblest cause they deserve a hold of mahavir chakra. The fight is for respect.
Moreover they also agreed for the lady to remarry to anyone she wants which is nowhere written. The parents also don’t want her to stay single or endure any pain in the loss of her husband which is also not written.
I don’t support their statement of remarrying younger brother but that is just one thing.
Their loss is irreparable. Smriti can get remarried but they can’t get their son back. This is something that makes people tilt sides towards parents.
This is a case that seems simple but is highly debatable.
I don’t support the actions or some of the dialogues of the parents. But they also said that the lady was a good wife prior to the incident which shows they didn’t seem to defame the lady just like that which is again hidden in the post. We should also remember that the father of the soldier was also from Army so we are here talking about an ex army person.
If they are denied any access to the mahavir chakra then that is not right.
That is the main point of contention.
Nobody is dictating the girl on how to live.
I don’t think many people would agree on all the terms and conditions put forward by the parents. The girl does have complete freedom to chose how to lead her life.
The main point of contention is the hold of mahavir chakra and that I feel is right. Since the parents also have right over it.
It seems an agenda driven post with only half truth shown.
Kudos!
