In reality journalists, though not all, are politicians themselves in the garb of being reporters. They aspire to Rajya Sabha seats and have no qualms in doing anything to achieve this. To believe that they are honest or impartial in their profession, is to live in a fool’s paradise. They are ready to sell their souls for a Rajya Sabha chair. In any case the current lot who are more interested in playing sides rather than objective reporting have lost all credibility.
I thought Sagarika Ghose was a self-righteous liberal living on the topmost floor of a spotless ivory tower. Never thought she will stoop so low by joining the corrupt TMC of dictatorial Mamata Banerjee. Now I’m curious as to what will she do when the PM Narendra Modi (her number one enemy) greets her in parliament.
There is rigid party discipline. As much in the opposition space as elsewhere. Sandeshkhali a poignant reminder. Actually, although not uniform, many journalists are doing a fine job, overcoming immense odds.
