BTW india has pretty stringent privacy laws….but if a component agency requests a third party sms provider or company it’s obliged to provide information on the same…anyhow most corps like Whatsapp and Snapchat have cleary defined in their TOS (Terms of Service – which y’all agreed to) that they can send data to certain govt agencies with respect to terrorism, anti-national elements, fake news and maybe drugs (don’t quote me on that though)

Also, enable two-factor authentication wherever available. Even WhatsApp has this option.
