Hamas said late Monday that it had agreed to ceasefire proposal from mediators. Israel said the terms did not meet its demands and launched a military operation in Rafah.
Israel’s military described its raid as ‘precise and limited’ and said it was based on credible information that Hamas was hiding in the facility and had kept hostages there.
The Rafah crossing, controlled by Egypt, is the main entrance and exit point to Gaza from Egypt and is in a region tightly controlled by the Egyptian military.
