Kolkata’s positivity rate has hit 38.37%, one of the highest in the country. On 3 January, West Bengal reported 6,078 new Covid-19 cases, of which 2,801 were in Kolkata alone.
Maharashtra's positivity rate increased to 19.91% from 15% in June. Experts say this shows Covid has spread faster after lockdown was lifted. However, recovery rate is at 71%.
On Sunday, the positivity rate was 11.4%, higher than the usual 7-8% and also higher than the Sunday rate of around 9%. But experts attribute this to ramping up of testing capabilities.
