‘Dekh Rahe Hain Nayan’, a three-day festival held in Kolkata on 30 August, celebrated Tanvir’s body of work. MK Raina, Naseeruddin Shah paid tribute to the theatre legend.

Bengal has a glorious heritage of theatre studded with legends such as Utpal Dutta, Badal Sircar, GC Ghosh, etc. It does not need inspiration from some Habib Tanvir and company. The likes of Habib Tanvir and Naseeruddin Shah have always been rabidly communal, who never ever criticised their own religion and society. Their entire body of work is dedicated to belittling and ridiculing Hindu society and religion.
Bengal can certainly do without these so called legends.
