Karnataka CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has refused to take his father Deve Gowda’s advice to resign. Instead, he’s prepared to face a no-confidence motion on 12 July.
Congress's "trouble shooter" and Minister D K Shivakumar met the legislators and tried to convince them not to rock the coalition's strength in the 224-member Assembly.
There are very specific height measurements for a recruit assuming the rank of deputy range forest range officer in Karnataka: 163 cm (approx. 5'4”) for men and 150 cm (4'11”) for women.
While global corporations setting up GCCs in India continue to express confidence in availability of skilled AI engineers, the panel argued that India’s real challenge lies elsewhere.
Taylor ‘Fema’ Hiester, commander of USAF F-16 Viper Demo Team, hit out at air show organisers for continuing with the show after Wing Commander Namansh Syal lost his life in the incident.
It is a brilliant, reasonably priced, and mostly homemade aircraft with a stellar safety record; only two crashes in 24 years since its first flight. But its crash is a moment of introspection.
Congress with the current ideology and the set of corrupt leaders it have must vanish for the good of emerging new India. Any possibility of revival must create a new Congress where Kumar Ketkar type loyalists are kept at arms length and Nehru Indira dynasts are treated like any other Congress worker. The new Congress should have the vision for the future and doesn’t carry the burden of the past.
1. Yes, it is absolutely true that fortunes of the Congress party can be revived, if not in immediate future, in 2029, certainly. 2. Those citizen-voters who believe that the Congress party has a future as a centrist (to be precise, left of the centre) political party, wish that the Congress should reorganize to become such a centrist party. 3. For better future of the Congress party and for internal democracy in the party Smt Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Ms Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra should not be members of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee. 4. We citizen-voters wish that new Congress President, who will succeed Rahul Gandhi, would tell country’s citizen-voters (a) his ideas of democratic India, (b) his strategy to defeat RSS & BJP on ideology and (c) whether and how the Congress party would redraft its economic agenda (which merely talks about increasing income of the poor but does not provide a viable to do that) and its secular agenda (which right now depends too much on minority community, i.e., the poor Muslim voters for survival) and lastly (d) how in coming months would he/she tackle ‘image problem’ by which I mean how would he/she handle a situation in which he/she will be branded as belonging to this or that State?
There is a potential downside to this unceasing quest for total political dominion. It will drive the Opposition- no matter how emaciated it looks at the moment – closer to each other, in an act of sheer desperation. Not all of them will be as irrational as Ms Mayawati appears to be, starting a solitary trek. 2. As far as the moral or ethical dimension of what is happening is concerned, one cannot say whether this is an aberration or the new normal. Or how the average citizen views it. 3. The incumbent’s concern should be how well it is converting power and political capital into the sort of economic / governance performance that maintains high popularity ratings. Mujhe toh Budget samajh mein nahin aaya. If five hundred rupees are being sent each month to farm families, that shows deprivation and despair.
Dear Kumar Ketkar, it is clearly evident that Siddharamiah 1) hates the Gowda family 2) wants to be CM and 3) because of 1 & 2, would do anything to topple government and become CM. But I understand your reason to write these articles since you were given a RS seat at a time when there are so many in Congress who would have loved to get a RS seat and that ManMohan Singh will get re-elected (On INC strength alone) to RS only because of the death of Rajasthan BJP chief, you need to justify / prove loyalty to INC family.
It’s Ok to say that everything will be fine no matter what happens. But doesn’t the COngress ponder on why so many MLAs in Karnataka are so greedy that they ALL want to be Ministers ? Is this physically feasible ? They are not happy with being even Chairmen of State Corporations. Obviously the material gains of a Minister are far bigger. Shouldn’t Ketkar be worried about the MLA attitudes , leaving aside whatever the BJP is trying to do.
