Kangana Ranaut is a well-known actress and producer in the Hindi film industry and a BJP politician. With films like Queen and Manikarnika to her name, she was known for her portrayal of strong female characters.

Hailing from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, an ‘outsider’ in showbusiness, she was critical of nepotism in the film industry, also known as Bollywood, and celebrities, claiming to have been wronged by some of them. She was part of a riled-up controversy after the BMC, led by Shiv Sena, demolished parts of her office in Mumbai over alleged structural violations and illegal construction, and soon became part of daily headlines for her comments on the controversy around the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The actress was announced as a candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
