I would change it a bit to ” That megalomaniac from America.” Surrounded by a sycophantic media buffoons, he thought of himself as a James Bondesque gift to India. Instead of keeping his head down and going about his job quietly and seriously – like central bankers all over the world do – he went around the country giving politically loaded lectures like a narcissist who loved the sound of his voice too much. He should consider himself lucky that he was not fired.
Among the many pieces of good advice he tendered – none of which sadly was ever acted upon – was, Please don’t do Demonetisation. If you must, keep the five hundred rupee notes out of it. Why we have become so allergic to people who have a little grey matter between their ears eludes me.
