IPS officer Hasan Gafoor was Mumbai commissioner during the 2008 attacks. He was pulled up by a probe panel for not overtly showing leadership at the time.
Recommendations appear in Niti Aayog’s Tax Policy Working Paper Series–II. It says there is a need to shift away from fear-based enforcement to trust-based governance.
In service with the British military since 2019, it is also known as the Martlet missile. Ukrainians have also deployed these missiles against Russian troops.
Education, reservations, govt jobs are meant to bring equality and dignity. That we are a long way from that is evident in the shoe thrown at the CJI and the suicide of Haryana IPS officer. The film Homebound has a lesson too.
I had not heard about him. Read a lot about Hemant Karkare but his name did not come up in articles I read. Everybody has a different style of working and taking command. His shortcomings have been highlighted here but his approach, his accomplishments cannot be ignored.
Getting rid of security cover is a remarkable step he took. May he rest in peace. Mumbai Attacks were the first of its kind. Some laxities were inevitable.
May be a decent man but he failed as a leader. While the 26/11 terror strike and the armed fight was in progress Mr. Hasan Gafoor was fast asleep in his official car and it was seen live by millions of the viewers not just in India but all over the world that brought the Mumbai Police Force a bad name. The man was found sleeping for a long time and the car was just moving around in South Mumbai as I could see. Now that kind of dereliction of duty had to be acted upon. I am surprised at this sudden defence of Mr. Gafoor by THE PRINT and Ms. Manasi Phadke.
