Really an alarming situation for the bright students. US company deferring the date of joining would have been an acceptable proposition but rescinding their job offers is something which depicts the ethos and culture of a company which is given an opportunity in IIM – A, B &C to pick up the best of the lot at the time of internship and final placements. Such companies should not be given a chance in future to visit for recruitment. They have set an example of betrayal. COVID -19 Pandemic is all over and all the companies have been deferring the dates of joining. This company should also have done that.
Some of the IIMs and IITs have taken immediate action for having a dialogue with the recruiters, but at the same time, some IIMs are falsely proclaiming that there is no effect of COVID-19 on their placements. How they are making such statements – probably to save their skin in view of Hon’ble Minister of HRD’s directive to take care of the career prospects of students. Instead of such proclamation they should have come forward for some special placement as directed by the Minister/HRD and as being done by many of the IITs, they are trying to misguide and camaflauge the situation. The placement in-charges of these IIMs should have spoken to their aggrived and deprived students and would have made some effort for their placement in some decent companies. What do they want to say? False claims of 100% placement with high package of salaries, etc. etc. is simply a misnomer as the insiders say. A very high fee of 23 lakhs for an MBA degree and thereafter no job – what is this? They are simply money spinners, thriving on the hard earned money of the students and their parents and nothing else. They are making fool of the naive and gullible students. Very unfortunate indeed!
