In April too there was trouble as Commonwealth Games medallists protested against a “cut” on cash prize for athletes who represent Army, Railways in national competitions.

The farmers, who are going on a 10-day strike, are unhappy with the central government for allegedly not addressing their issues on low income, increasing number of  suicides and rising debt.

Dissent makes for a healthy democracy, no matter what day of the week it is.  People are far more likely to be happy if we have ministers who address problems.

It was in early 1967 that Haryana, then less than a year old, witnessed its first assembly election. That poll season, Gaya Lal, an independent MLA, jumped ship twice within a few hours and thrice in 15 days to be a part of the new government.

It makes sound political sense for the opposition to not oppose Khattar’s remark, but appeasement politics looks at other factors.

The forms were withdrawn after widespread criticism; critics say the forms could have resulted in discrimination against students.

Psychologists say these incidents are a result of the reduced ‘family space’ for growing children, suggest more interaction between parents & children.
