Congress or the Indian National Congress (INC) is one of two major political parties in India. It was founded in 1885 and played a leading role in India’s Independence movement. It has ruled during most of India’s independent years and gave the country its first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Leadership of the Congress too has been dominated by the Nehru-Gandhi family.
The Congress is a center-left party, and lists on its website democracy, nationalism, secularism, inclusive growth and social justice as its core values. It last ruled India between 2004 and 2014, but has since lost its sway, being reduced to just 52 seats in the 2019 General Elections. INDIA, the alliance headed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, was an attempt to bring together opposition parties against the BJP government for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Together, the INDIA Alliance secured 238 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. The Congress won 99 of these.
Only socialists should be allowed in the Congress party. All those who possess property worth crores; income more than ₹384000 per annum should be kicked out of the party. Congress members should travel either by public transport or bicycle, air travel should be banned for them. They shouldn’t wear suits and shoes.
“Ideologically committed”? Kharge just wants more far-Left loons in the Congress. What he does not realize is that it will ensure the continued downfall of the Congress. The far-Left and it’s woke allies stand for all sorts of bizarre policies – be it gender or human rights or environment. If, God forbid, it were to come to power, it will be a government of the activists, for the activists and by the activists.
The reason that the Left parties don’t get votes nowadays is not that India has leant to the right. It’s just that Congress itself has shifted from the centre and gone so far to the Left that all the votes, traditionally of the Left, goes to the Congress nowadays.
With certified idiots like Jairam Ramesh and snowflakes like Kharge advising Rahul Gandhi, it seems Congress’ “vanvaas” will not end soon.
That’s sad because India deserves a strong and robust opposition.
