Researchers studied simulated soil conditions from 1870 to 2016, and found that while other famines during this period were caused by drought, the one in 1943 wasn’t.
Peter Manuel's ‘Cassette Culture’ showed the booming Bhakti music during the '80s and '90s when Anoop Jalota, Gulshan Kumar achieved success by singing the sanitised Bhajans.
Economists say there are weaknesses in India’s GDP data. But statisticians claim the accusations are based on flawed understanding, saying while GDP has problems, the economists are looking in the wrong places.
Winston., this name is being used by many Indian parents for their children even now.. Shame on them… This fellow Churchill should have realized the contribution of Indian soldiers in the great war.. But he had the liking of a bulldog.. A cartoon which appeared
No doubt Churchill’s policies that had a negative impact on the famine but there are so many other factors. Nobody has produced evidence that Churchill’s decisions were decisive or that he made those decisions due to his hate of the Bengali people. I mean they COULD have been decisive and he could have made the decisions out of spite but we simply can’t say. What you can say is that speculators on the grouund watched their neighbours die while hoarding the food that would have saved them, they are the only group that I can see where you can say they choose to let people die. Everyone else was further away weighing up pros and cons (in a possibly inept or inhumane way) but we can never know. Hope this isn’t offensive!!
The next time, you people try annexing land, beware that those very people are going to nuke your cities. Btw, we loved how Hitler bombed your London. Hope I am not too offensive!!
Amit Kar what you are saying is not too offensive, but it is idiotic. That the Bengal famine was caused by human action (policy failure rather than genocidal intention) is not news. But saying that Churchill is responsible of the famine in the same way Hitler is responsible for the death of millions of jews is not just misleading, it is plain false. That Churchill was racist, and took decision that affected the Bengali is beyond question, but his government tried (too late) to alleviate the catastrophe.
Churchill was worse than Hitler and General Dyer (jallianwala bagh killer) together.
