London, Jul 10 (PTI) Deepti Sharma struck a fine 57 down the order to join Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur as half-centurions as India’s first innings folded at 285 on the opening day of the one-off women’s Test against England here on Friday.
Deepti took charge after Harmanpreet (58 off 121 balls) got out at the stroke of tea break at the team score of 202 for 5. The senior all-rounder held the middle order together as India added 83 runs from 23.3 overs in the post-tea session.
She made 57 from 87 balls and struck seven fours.
England will now bat in the remaining period of the opening day.
Earlier, opening batter Smriti Mandhana made 83 off 108 balls, hitting 11 fours and one six during her knock.
Harmanpreet’s 58 came off 121 balls and she struck seven boundaries.
