New Delhi: As Spain and Argentina prepare to clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final early Monday, FIFA has unveiled a special award for the winning side. For the first time in the tournament’s history, the world champions will walk away with bespoke, diamond-encrusted “Championship Rings” alongside their gold medals.
This announcement comes in the wake of confirmation by the White House that US President Donald Trump would be attending the finals and is set to present the trophy.
Winner rings are representative of American sports traditions, with the NFL’s Super Bowl victors presented with them. It is reported that one side of the championship ring will feature the World Cup trophy, while the other side will be custom-designed to reflect the victorious nation’s identity.
FIFA has unveiled 2026 limited edition rings — 30 for the champions, with the remaining 1996 available for the fans worldwide. After the finals, the winning team’s captain and head coach will receive temporary rings during the post-match celebrations. The final versions will be individually custom-made to ensure a personalised fit.

The final is set to happen between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New York. For the first time in the tournament’s century-long history, a World Cup final will feature a direct continental collision between the reigning European champions and the reigning Copa America champions.
