Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat may have already chosen BJP’s vice-presidential candidate, while the parliamentary board of the party is likely to meet soon to discuss the nomination.

The parliamentary board of the BJP is likely to meet soon in order to discuss the nominee of the vice-presidential candidate, sources in the BJP said Wednesday.

With Mohan Bhagwat in town,  there is reason to believe that that national president Amit Shah has already discussed the party’s choice for the post of vice president, they said. Shah and Bhagwat are also to meet on Thursday, they added.

A meeting had already taken place with the RSS over the weekend to have a consensus on the vice-presidential candidate, the sources claimed. The final date for nomination of the vice-presidential candidate is July 18. The vice-presidential elections are scheduled for August 5.

The party leaders have stated that MPs and ministers from across the country have been called to the parliament on July 16 for a briefing by the PM.

“The MPs and ministers are likely to be briefed on the presidential polls and vice-presidential polls on the same day.” Meanwhile, the party remained abuzz with speculations over the candidature of the vice-president as the date for filing the nominations draws closer.
