Abdul Nawaz Bugti, UN representative of the Baloch Republican Party, writes an open letter to Musharraf, who urged the Pak army to kill Baloch leaders in exile.
Dear Pervez Musharraf,
I just saw a video clip of your interview from the balcony of your luxury apartment in Dubai. Foul-mouthed as always, you advised your successors in the Pakistan military to assassinate the Baloch political leaders in exile.
I am not surprised at all to see you make such a suggestion (read: confession) confidently and openly in the media. That is because you have got away with the massacre of hundreds of innocent Baloch people in Balochistan, including the former CM & governor Nawab Akbar Bugti, whom the Baloch people revere and remember as the father of the nation. At least you think you got away with it!
But you are wrong. As you must remember, there is a famous proverb about the Baloch people that they can “forgive but they will never forget”. We will never forget how one your army colonel raped a Sindhi lady doctor in Dera Bugti in 2005, when you were the dictator, and how you protected him when the local people demanded justice for the victim.
We will never forget how your army bombarded our towns and cities and massacred hundreds of our innocent people when the Baloch people rose against your injustices and cruelties in Balochistan.
We still remember how you waved your fist in the air and addressed the Baloch people with threats of “hitting from where you wouldn’t know what hit you”.
You used all your military might against an aged leader like Shaheed Nawab Akbar Bugti, who bravely fought you till his last breath and never bowed before your draconian rule. You succeeded in killing him, but remember this: he will always be remembered and admired as a brave leader, while you will be forgotten as a coward general who absconded from courts using back pain as a pretext for escape.
You might think that you escaped justice and will never be held accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity you committed in Balochistan. You may also think the Baloch are weak and can never make you pay for the brutalities against them!
Every criminal thinks he is invincible until he is actually in the grip of justice. We may be weak now, but we will bring you to justice, no matter what. Remember the fate of the people who supported your army’s massacre of three million Bengalis back in the 1970s. Your army general at the time boasted to “change the race” of the Bengali people, but what the army faced is history: a humiliating defeat and surrender of 90,000 personnel, probably one of the worst in any war.
You may have succeeded in escaping the dummy courts of your country, where the army is the real ruler, but you will never be able to escape the justice that history brings.
Your end will be in shame and disgrace, and you will have to face this fate sooner or later!
Sincerely,
Abdul Nawaz Bugti
