New Delhi: The 2026 Union budget has been designed with a 25-year vision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday as he urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to explain its benefits to the public across the country.

According to sources, the PM also said that the biggest realignment since World War II is taking place now and it is bringing India to the centre stage.

“This he said will be the most influential development of the 21st century,” said a BJP MP.

The prime minister made the remarks during the NDA parliamentary party meeting. “The budget has been made keeping 25 years in mind. It is our vision for 25 years,” he said.

The prime minister also said that the recently concluded trade arrangements with the US would usher in significant advantages for India in the coming years. At the meeting, he was felicitated by NDA leaders for successfully concluding trade deals with several countries.

“Discussions also highlighted Modi’s historic trade milestones—nine FTAs, including the India-EU deal signed last week and the India-US agreements announced yesterday—which created strong enthusiasm among MPs,” said Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs.

Another MP pointed out that the prime minister had noted a number of regional and smaller parties aligning with the NDA, which he said signalled the alliance’s acceptance. However, he also cautioned party workers and leaders to continue working hard and to stay connected with the people.

A senior party leader said, “The NDA has been winning one election after another essentially because of the good work it has done. As party workers and leaders, we need to continue to work hard and deliver. The welfare of the people is paramount.”

He also asked MPs to be regular in Parliament and to attend parliamentary standing committees diligently, stressing that they are people’s representatives and not VIPs. “There is so much one can learn from attending these meetings,” the prime minister said, urging everyone to be more attentive. He gave the example of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, whom he said is always punctual and well-prepared, and praised how he conducts himself, adding that others should learn from him, another MP explained.

“He gave us guidance on how we should function as MPs and how to remain connected to ground realities as well as to the people. He stressed that working hard is the only mantra, and we must be active in Parliament as well as in standing committee meetings. He pointed out that this is what distinguishes us from the rest,” another leader added. During the meeting, BJP national president Nitin Nabin was also felicitated.
