New Delhi: A video of a speech by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi at the Bharat Bachao rally Saturday was temporarily unavailable on the party’s official YouTube channel due to “copyright issues”.

The over 18-minute speech went missing for a while in the evening with the link redirecting users to a page that says “this video contains content from SunNetwork, who has blocked it on copyright grounds”.

It has now been restored.

The Congress claimed that it was a “technical error” that was rectified by YouTube.

“It was a technical error that YouTube fixed,” said Congress social media head Rohan Gupta. “Two channels collided and Sun TV was trying to monetise the speech and that is why the glitch happened.”

The SunNetwork is owned by the Marans of the DMK, which is an ally of the Congress.

ThePrint has reached YouTube for a comment but there was no response. This report will be updated when they respond.

Rahul unapologetic about ‘rape in India’ remarks

Gandhi in his speech had vociferously attacked the Modi government and had categorically refused to apologise for his “rape in India” remark made at a rally in Jharkand where assembly polls are underway.

“India has so many enemies… All the enemies of India wanted to destroy its economy, the real power of the country. But this misdeed has been achieved by our prime minister who calls himself a patriot,” Gandhi said at the Bharat Bachao rally in Delhi.

On his rape in India remark, Gandhi said he would never apologise for speaking the truth and referred to the Sangh ideologue V.D. Savarkar.

“My name is not Rahul Savarkar. My name is Rahul Gandhi. I would prefer to lay my life than to say sorry for the speaking the truth,” he said.

“The Congress party will not offer an apology either. Instead it is Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who should apologise.”

Gandhi added that the prime minister had only one agenda — how to retain power.

“To remain in power, Modi can go to any extent,” Gandhi said. “He can ruin the economy, render the youth unemployed. He only believes in self marketing.”
