Minister Rao Inderjit Singh was upset with M.L. Khattar for turning up late for an event that was celebrating four years of Modi government. He was also angry that the CM had not included Gurugram in list of Smart Cities.

New Delhi: Discord within the Haryana unit of BJP came out in the open Sunday when Rao Inderjit Singh, minister of state for chemicals and fertilizers, said that the Khattar government will not help state party MPs in the upcoming 2019 polls.

At an event in Gurugram to celebrate four years of Modi government, Singh railed against Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar. The Union minister alleged that the MPs are not kept informed as well as ignored by the state bureaucracy when it comes to giving credit for the completion of projects. He also attacked Khattar for not including Gurugram in the list of Smart Cities.

Celebrations turned sour

At the event, Singh admonished Khattar, who was present on stage, for ‘being late’. Upset with the CM not turning up for inauguration of ‘Centre-sponsored’ bypass and a flyover, and reaching straight to the event where intellectuals were called to promote Modi government’s achievements, Singh even said that he didn’t have much expectation from the Khattar government in the upcoming polls.

Singh said, “I am very saddened to say that I don’t have much expectation from your government in 2019 polls as far as MPs are concerned. You have a battery of officials who could have informed me about your late arrival. But I was made to wait. In future, please take care of this, else don’t invite us.”

He further suggested that Khattar is deliberately keeping Gurugram out of schemes. “Had Subhash Barala been the CM, even Tohana would have got smart city tag. I have to contest another election from Gurugram, I urge you to do something in this smart city issue,” said Singh.

Khattar’s explanation

Trying to diffuse the tension, Khattar said that he was happy with Singh speaking out. “I appreciate that Rao Saheb has not kept this in heart and spoken out but it would have been better if he had said this in a room as it is ghar ka mamla (internal matter)” said Khattar. He also apologised for being late as he was delayed by another programme.

On Sunday, an underpass constructed with an investment of Rs 46 crore at the Hero Honda Chowk, and a flyover constructed with Rs 20 crore of investment at IMT Manesar were opened for Gurugram residents. Khattar, however, did not reach the spot for the inauguration.
