Following Raj Babbar and C P Joshi, another senior Congress leader has passed a controversial remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lineage.

Mumbai: After Raj Babbar and C P Joshi, another Congress leader has added to the party’s embarrassment by making controversial comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lineage.

Former Union minister Vilas Muttemwar made the comments at a party meeting in Rajasthan on Saturday. The video of his speech has gone viral on social media.

“Who knew you (Modi) before you became the PM. Even now, nobody knows the name of your father, but everybody knows the name of (Congress president) Rahul Gandhi’s father,” Muttemwar is heard saying in the viral video.

Muttemwar, who hails from Vidarbha region, told PTI that the video in circulation was distorted.

“It was an internal party meeting yesterday. The person who shot the video distorted it and posted it online,” he said.

The Congress leader said it was a fact that people of the country knew who Rahul Gandhi’s father was but not many knew about Modi’s father. “The world knows past generations of Rahul Gandhi but no one knows who Modi’s father was,” he said.

Babbar had likened the falling rupee to the age of Modi’s mother, after Joshi’s casteist remark on the PM and Union minister Uma Bharti.

“Before becoming PM, Narendra Modi used to say that the value of the rupee has fallen to a level where it is almost the same as the age of the then-PM (Manmohan Singh). Now, it is inching towards the age of Modis respected mother,” Babbar had said.

The PMs mother, Heeraben Modi, is 98 years old.

Addressing a poll meeting in Rajasthan on Thursday, Joshi had reportedly said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP MP Uma Bharti and Hindu activist Sadhvi Ritambhara are from “lower castes” and know nothing of Hinduism. He said it is the Brahmins who are learned and know of Hinduism. -PTI

  1. Does Muttemwar know, or did he ever bother to know, who Manmohan Singh’s father was? Or, P.V. Narasimha Rao’s? Or, Lal Bahdur Shastri’s? Were they not Prime Ministers of this country? OR, should one learn ONLY of the DYNASTY and THAT will be enough for an Indian?

  2. Now make this another media topic and use such websites to promulgate.

What a blunder of an article this is and most of them in this website. Congress media stakes have been pretty high with all such sites and their assessment and analysis stands always in favor of Gandhis, Chidambarams and the likes. These are the people who have savaged India and are now promulgating casteism, pluralism, provoking religious sentiments. Such people deserved to go through the walk of atonement in broad daylight of the country.

  3. It would take a week for the political class to reach out to each other and make this part of the discourse history. Not helping anyone. Have seen a few video clips of people at political rallies, or elsewhere, expressing their disappointment over how issues that really matter to them are not being touched upon. The electorate is focused like a laser beam, even if those who represent them sometimes seem not to be.
