Miffed MLAs have openly expressed dissatisfaction, and one of them, tribal leader Hiralal Alawa, has demanded a meeting with Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
Bhopal: The newly-formed Congress government led by Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh is already grappling with dissent, as three party MLAs are up in arms over their exclusion from the state cabinet.
The three legislators are Sumawali MLA Adal Singh Kansana, Mandsaur MLA Hardeep Dang, and Manvar MLA Dr. Hiralal Alawa, who is the founder of the tribal outfit, Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS), and fought on a Congress ticket.
Alawa has openly accused the Congress of breaking its promises, and demanded a meeting with party president Rahul Gandhi.
Talking to a local news outlet, the MLA said Gandhi had promised him a role in the state government when he sought support from JAYS for the elections. Alawa also met Chief Minister Kamal Nath Thursday, and sources said that he sought the medical education portfolio.
His supporters have already begun protesting on the ground and on social media.

Kansana has blamed senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Deepak Babariya for his losing out on a post in the cabinet. Speaking to local news outlets, he appealed to former CM Digvijaya Singh and former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Arun Yadav for help.
Dang told local news outlet NayiDuniya that he will “put forth his demands at the appropriate platforms”.

SP too unhappy with lack of cabinet role
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav had Wednesday made it clear that he was also not pleased by the Congress’ decision to exclude the lone SP legislator in Madhya Pradesh from the state cabinet.
“We thank the Congress for not making our MLA a minister in Madhya Pradesh,” Yadav told reporters in Lucknow. “This has cleared our path for the alliance in Uttar Pradesh. In time to come, the options are open as to who all will be included in the alliance.”
