An animated Indian bahu twerking to a Haryanvi song. A 3-D Messi awkwardly draped in a navy blue sari, trying to prove he’s better than Ronaldo. A news-style show breaking the latest updates on Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s hair. Welcome to the wonderfully weird world of Roblox edits, where anything is possible and chaos reigns.
For those who somehow missed the last decade (can I join you under the rock?) Roblox is a massive online platform where millions build games, role-play, and hang out in user-created worlds. Think of it as a giant digital playground where the creative liberty of Minecraft meets the collaborative reach of social networking, all built out of glossy, round-edged blocks.
The trend exploded with creators turning Roblox into their personal film sets. Using customisable avatars, free animations, and heavy editing, they got characters to enact funny audios, movie scenes, trending reels, and even entire musical numbers. CineBlox Studios, for instance, specialises in cinematic parodies and meme remakes.
Bearded bro Chirkut, the channel’s most famous character, vibes to renditions of Haryanvi folk songs in a child’s voice.
“Lambi bahu aa gayi toh ooche boot mangalunga… choti bahu aa gayi toh usko godi uthalunga (If I get a tall wife I’ll get high-heeled boots… if I get a short wife I’ll lift her up),” a child’s voice sings as Chirkut grooves, stomping in his bright brown cowboy boots with the lambi bahu and spinning the choti bahu in his arms. He’s the body-positive king we’ve been looking for.
“Another loss for the deaf,” read a comment. Others were captivated by Chirkut’s bahu, unbothered by her lego-like build and goofy dance moves. “Why the wife kinda…” read one of the most liked comments. The heart wants what it wants. And sometimes, that is Chirkut’s lambi bahu.
“I love whatever is wrong with my feed,” commented a viewer.
The Viral Spiral of Roblox edits thrives on absurdity. Indians have a special fondness for the ridiculous—the more bizarre an idea, the faster it spreads. While the global trend had been around for years, Indians injected it with unrivalled chaos. The global Roblox edits are cute. Ours are uniquely unhinged.

Ghar-ghar for Gen Z
These edits remind me of the era of the legendary Ganji Chudail. The bare-bones animation, the bizarre storylines, and the impossible feats of human storytelling created levels of brainrot AI cheating cherries can never hope to reach.
What makes the Roblox videos even more addictive is the glorious mismatch: their stiff, short, expressionless characters deliver high drama with zero irony.
And what is desi Gen Z doing on the game, you ask? A reel posted on 7 June showed a player’s avatar walking into a ‘bal vivah’ mandap, complete with a havan and a pandit. Another, from last week, featured a couple in a hospital ward, ready to welcome their baby. What is Roblox but digital ghar-ghar for young India?
It helps that every reel is accompanied by a Bollywood banger. Sometimes it’s ‘Dulhe Ka Sehra’, others, ‘Aashayein’.
Sure, the cringe AI content that platforms keep shoving in our faces is enjoyable for its absurdity. But Roblox edits are endearing for another reason. Young creators spend hours in the game, perfecting timing, hunting for the right audio, and executing increasingly ridiculous concepts.
My favourite era of the internet is the time when Photoshop was the shiny new toy everyone wanted to play with. We were out there unleashing absolute war crimes on our photos. It was Photo-slop, but it was our Photo-slop.
The same rule applies to the Roblox videos. It’s the human effort behind the goof that keeps you from scrolling.
Someone spent hours creating this ridiculous little reel, you think. People are so dumb. I’m going to send this to everyone I know.
Views are personal.
