Off The Cuff with Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian

Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian, India’s chief economic advisor was the guest at ThePrint’s first digital ‘Off The Cuff’ in New Delhi. Subramanian, who is part of the core Finance Ministry team assessing the impact of Covid-19 on the Indian economy and many of its sectors, said the government is readying a fiscal stimulus package for adversely impacted sectors that will be announced soon.

Subramanian said that printing money by RBI may be a one-time option but which has to be exercised carefully. He also talked about how a universal basic income may not be feasible fiscally without doing away with subsidies.
