The best Indian cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

In the lead cartoon, Sandeep Adhwaryu in Times of India does a brilliant take on the condition of justice system in India. He shows the wheels of justice are merely an illusion driven by blindfolded Justice.

Most cartoons dealt with the acquittal of all the accused in the 2007 Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blast. A special National Investigation Agency court cited lack of evidence while acquitting them. The blast had killed nine people and injured 53 others.

Cartoonist Sajith Kumar commented on the failure of the NIA to get a conviction in the case with a saffron water gun to take on terror. Manjul in Mid-day shows justice in the aftermath of the verdict, walking about looking for her tools.

E.P. Unny in the Indian Express shows that the only government institution that has ceased to be a joke now is the meteorological department. The department recently predicted a normal monsoon for this year, but was laughed at many times in the past because it got the forecast wrong.

Surendra in The Hindu says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s time may be running out given his handling of multiple political crises.
