Ambala, Oct 11 (PTI) Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Sumita Misra on Sunday said that negligence in patient care, poor sanitation and inadequate supervision of diagnostic services will not be tolerated, directing health officials to strengthen accountability and introduce QR code based registration to spare patients unnecessary delays at government hospitals.
During a surprise visit to Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, Misra reviewed Health, AYUSH, and emergency care, patient registration, medicine stocks, staffing, cleanliness, and diagnostic services.
She instructed the Civil Surgeon to implement a QR code system at registration to streamline procedures and spare patients unnecessary hassle.
“Providing the best possible healthcare facilities to the people is the state government’s top priority. No negligence in delivering medical services will be tolerated,” she said, according to a statement, stressing that patients must receive timely treatment in a clean and safe environment.
The Additional Chief Secretary visited the general and emergency wards, interacted with admitted patients and sought direct feedback on the quality of treatment being provided.
She also sought details about patient management and treatment arrangements from a doctor on emergency duty.
Underscoring the vital role of cleanliness in healthcare, she urged hospital authorities to uphold rigorous sanitation standards throughout all patient areas.
Misra also reviewed the availability of doctors, supporting staff and essential medicines.
The Civil Surgeon, Ambala, informed her that adequate manpower was available and medicine stocks were sufficient to meet patients’ requirements.
Misra issued a firm directive for close supervision of MRI, CT scan, and other diagnostic facilities run under public private partnerships.
She made it clear that outsourcing diagnostic services did not absolve the Health Department of responsibility for the quality and functioning of those services.
Senior doctors must closely monitor such facilities to ensure that patients receive timely and reliable diagnostic services, she directed, warning that negligence in their operation would not be accepted.
Misra also sought an update on the renovation and expansion of Civil Hospital, Ambala City.
Officials informed her that renovation work had been completed and a newly constructed extension, with an additional capacity of 100 to 200 beds, was ready for inauguration. The new infrastructure promises to boost public healthcare and relieve the strain on current hospital services.
After the inspection, Misra noted that hospital systems were running smoothly, yet emphasized the ongoing need for constant improvement in medical care.
She urged doctors and administrators to uphold top treatment standards, guarantee essential services, and swiftly resolve any patient concerns. PTI SUN NB
