Chennai, Oct 11 (PTI) Emphasising that the global community is actively searching for innovative answers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday told the young minds that the present era belonged to them, as the world looked to them for solutions.

Addressing students during the golden jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya here, he delivered an inspiring talk centring on youth empowerment, national unity, and the timeless wisdom of Tamil heritage.

He emphasised that the global community is actively searching for innovative answers, and told the gathering that they held the potential to provide those solutions.

“This is your time and your opportunity,” PM Modi said, adding that he sees the future of the nation directly reflected in them.

The prime minister appreciated Tamil language and culture and hailed the ancient Tamil classic ‘Thirukkural’ as a great guide for life. He recalled a memorable past moment when he had the privilege of gifting this masterpiece to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Recently, I gifted Putin a Russian edition of the Thirukkural. The Thirukkural is a unique guide for those who wish to continue learning throughout their lives. Thiruvalluvar, through a famous Kural, teaches us that learning something new is not enough. We must also put that learning into practice. This is an important lesson for all students,” the prime minister said.

He said the quality of education was improving through the National Education Policy. The global standing of Indian educational institutions is also strengthening.

“My travels have given me opportunities to understand the diversity of our country more closely. It is through these experiences that my love for the Tamil language and culture has grown. That’s why I encourage you to discover India. Wherever you go, carry Tamil culture with you. Share Tamil poetry, stories and traditions with friends,” he urged.

Calling upon the students to make friends with people whose backgrounds may be different from their own, he said, “The unity of our nation is built by the friendship you make.”

“Today, the world is looking for solutions, and you have the potential to provide them. I want every young person to see themselves on the big canvas of the infinite opportunities that Bharat offers. Because this is your time. This is your opportunity. I am convinced that this dream will be fulfilled,” the PM said.

Also, he paid glowing tributes to the legendary national poet Mahakavi Bharati, highlighting the poet’s enduring impact, and noted that the people of Varanasi still fondly remember Bharati’s inspiring verse ‘Achamillai’ (there is no fear), which continues to encourage people to live courageously and fearlessly.

Moving to sports, the prime minister said India was preparing to hold the 2030 CWG, also moving forward on the dream to conduct the 2036 Olympics. PTI JSP VGN SA JSP KH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
