Mumbai, Jun 20 (PTI) The world faced several major challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine war in the last 12 years, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi transformed every crisis into an opportunity, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday.

Under Modi’s leadership, India concluded nine Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), opening the markets of 38 developed countries to Indian entrepreneurs, farmers, fishermen, and women entrepreneurs, he said.

Holding a press conference on the Modi government’s 12 years, Goyal presented a detailed review.

The prime minister is now recognized globally as one of the most popular leaders, and 33 countries have conferred upon him their highest national honours, he said.

These include not only countries with long-standing ties to India but also several nations that were not traditionally close partners, Goyal said, adding that Modi’s popularity continues to rise globally.

Referring to the prime minister’s recent visit to France, Goyal said the bilateral discussions held with world leaders and the decision to implement the India-UK Free Trade Agreement from July 15 are expected to yield positive results in the near future.

The Modi government’s transparent and technology-driven governance model has become an example for the world, said the BJP leader.

Due to the government’s strong political will, India also made significant progress in overcoming Naxalism, with affected youth being integrated into the mainstream, the Union minister said.

The government also responded firmly to terrorism, Goyal added. PTI PR KRK
