Phagwara, Jul 5 (PTI) A 42-year old woman was found murdered at a rented accommodation in a village here on Sunday evening, with police suspecting she was killed by her husband who has been missing since, an official said.
Phagwara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Palvinder Singh, who reached the scene in Chak Hakeem village after getting information, said the victim has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. She worked in a factory while her husband Devinder Singh was a mason.
The DSP said it was the woman’s second marriage, after the death of her first husband. They were without a child.
He said the couple had strained relations. On Sunday, an altercation allegedly broke out between the two, during which the husband allegedly hit her on the head with a heavy object, leading to her death on the spot.
Police said the couple were originally residents of Langeri village in Banga block but were living in a rented house in nearby Chak Hakeem village.
He said the accused allegedly fled to Langeri village after committing the crime and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
Family members of the deceased told reporters that the couple lad been married for four years. PTI COR SUN ARB ARB
