Baghpat (UP), Jun 14 (PTI) A woman here in Baraut allegedly killed her 34-year-old husband with the help of her lover after drugging him, police said on Sunday.

Sachin Dagar, a farmer in Naurojpur Gurjar village, was found dead under suspicious circumstances early on Saturday, the police said.

Rachna, his wife, told neighbours that Sachin’s health had suddenly deteriorated and he was taken to a hospital where he died.

There were marks however on his neck which were noticed by the neighbours as well as by the family members.

During their investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the area, which allegedly showed a man entering the house at 10.27 pm on Friday and leaving at 3.27 am on Saturday.

A two-doctor panel confirmed strangulation as the cause of death and found indications that someone dragged the body, the police said.

On Saturday, when interrogated, Rachna confessed to her involvement in the crime and was arrested, Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai said. Her accomplice was identified as Sonu, who she had met on instagram.

According to the officer, Rachna said Sonu was from Ranchhad village and the two later developed a relationship. Sachin got to know about the affair and was against it.

Rachna allegedly mixed five to six sedative tablets in his food and served it to him before allegedly strangling him with Sonu’s help, he said.

Sonu remains at large and police teams have been formed to nab him, the SP said. PTI COR CDN SMV VN VN
