Lucknow, May 6 (PTI) A woman here alleged that her father was demoted from supervisor to ‘safai karmchari’ (sanitation worker) after she offered ‘prasad’ to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, officials said on Wednesday.
Yadav, when asked about it during a press conference held earlier today, said that it was ‘unfortunate’, adding that on April 14, he had gone to a gurdwara and attended a ‘bhandara’, but he did not know the woman, Anjali Massey, before that.
He alleged that the action was taken at the behest of BJP leaders and assured that he would raise the issue with higher authorities.
Massey, addressing the same press conference, said, “My father would even sacrifice 100 jobs for you (Akhilesh).” The officials said that Umesh Kumar, an employee of the Cantonment Board, had organised the ‘bhandara’ on April 14 and sent invitations to senior officials, which was considered a violation of service conduct rules.
“The action was not taken because of serving the ‘prasad’ to Akhilesh Yadav, but for violation of service conduct rules by directly sending invitation letters to senior officials without informing the Board,” a senior officer said. PTI ABN MDO APL APL
