Farrukhabad (UP), Oct 11 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter were killed, while three others were injured, when a pickup vehicle collided with a dumper on the Etawah-Bareilly highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district, police said on Sunday.

The accident occurred near Jainapur in the Rajepur police station area on Saturday night.

According to police, Vimlesh, a resident of Panchal Ghat, was returning to Farrukhabad with his wife Pooja and their daughter when their pickup collided with the dumper.

Five people, including three members of Vimlesh’s family, were injured in the accident. They were taken to the Rajepur Community Health Centre, where doctor Himanshu Rajput declared Pooja and her daughter dead.

Vimlesh is undergoing treatment at the community health centre, while pickup driver Sharif and an unidentified man, aged around 55, were referred to Lohia Hospital in view of their critical condition.

Sharif was trapped inside the pickup following the collision. Police personnel rescued him after cutting a window with a grinder, taking about 10 minutes.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
