Gurugram, Sep 22 (PTI) Nearly two years after a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at the Millennium City metro station here, police have registered a case against his wife and in-laws over alleged abetment, officials said on Tuesday.
Persuant to a court order, police booked six persons, including the deceased’s wife and members of her family, under sections 108 (suicide abetment) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Metro police station.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 25, 2024, when Sushant Kamra — a resident of Gurugram’s Shivpuri — jumped in front of a metro at the Millennium City station and died.
After receiving information, a team from the Metro police station arrived at the scene, recovered the body and handed it to kin after post-mortem.
The deceased’s family later lodged a complaint, alleging persistent harassment by his wife and in-laws drove the victim to the act.
When police took no action, the deceased’s father Ajay Kumar filed a petition in court seeking action in the matter, officials said.
Following a court order, police registered a case against the deceased’s wife Pooja Khanna, and her family members Sahil Khanna, Praveen Khanna, Sunita Khanna, Saloni Khanna, and Ravi Khanna.
“A case has been registered pursuant to the court’s order. The matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during probe,” a senior police official said. PTI COR ARB
