Kolkata, Sep 24 (PTI) The West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) will operate special Puja Parikrama services from October 17 to 21 to facilitate devotees to visit Durga Puja pandals across Kolkata and adjoining areas, an official said on Thursday.
The special services will include regular and air-conditioned buses, CNG and AC buses, trams and waterways, covering major Durga Puja destinations in north and south Kolkata as well as areas beyond the city, the WBTC official said.
Dedicated Puja Parikrama services will also be operated from the northern suburbs, district headquarters Barasat, Barrackpore-Dunlop Crossing, Howrah and other locations, he said.
Transport Minister Arjun Singh on Thursday unveiled the Puja Parikrama booklet in the presence of WBTC Managing Director Abhishek Chourasia, Joint Managing Director Pranabesh Mondal, Deputy Managing Director Pradip Majumder and other senior officials.
The official said the special services have been planned to provide safe, convenient and comfortable transportation to commuters during the festive period.
Arrangements for refreshments and other passenger facilities will also be made on several Parikrama services, he said.
