New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has kicked up a row by claiming that cow is the only animal which exhales and inhales oxygen. The BJP leader did not stop at that. He also said that massaging a cow can cure breathing ailments, while living in close proximity with the animal can heal tuberculosis in people.
In a video which went viral Thursday, CM Rawat also said that he has conducted a research on the benefits of cow dung and urine for various part of the human body during his stint as animal husbandry minister in the erstwhile BJP government in 2007-12. He also asserted that scientists are now conforming this “fact”.
When contacted by ThePrint, the media adviser of Uttarakhand CM refused to comment on the matter.

Garud Ganga remark, Kanad’s nuclear test
Rawat’s statement comes days after state BJP President and Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt said pregnant women can avoid caesarean deliveries if they drink water from the Garud Ganga river in Bageshwar district. Bhatt had also said that stones from the river, if rubbed on snakebite wounds, can save lives.
Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, who was a former Uttarakhand CM, had claimed that an ancient sage Kanad conducted nuclear tests in the second century BC.
Last year, on 20 September 2018, Uttarakhand assembly had passed a resolution demanding that the cow be declared a rashtra mata (mother of the nation).

Livestock generates more greenhouse gas
According to a report published by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, the livestock sector generates more greenhouse gas emissions as measured in CO2 equivalent — 18 per cent — than transport.
The report also stated that livestock is responsible for about 14.5 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions since they produce nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and methane in large proportions.
Cancer cure, Darwin’s theory et al
Some other BJP leaders have also stoked controversy with their remarks. Pragya Thakur, a BJP MP from Bhopal had claimed that cow urine consumption has helped in curing cancer. She also said rubbing the cow in “a certain way” can help one control blood pressure.
In January 2017, Vasudev Devnani, former education minister of Rajasthan had made similar claims as Rawat did about the cow, saying the animal was unique because it both inhales and exhales oxygen.
Former minister of state for HRD Satyapal Singh had likewise said that Darwin’s theory of evolution is “scientifically wrong”. He was later supported by BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav too.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made claims like Lord Ganesha’s elephant-head is a result of plastic surgery and the character Karna from the epic Mahabharata was born as a result of genetic engineering.

Please govern
This stuff is here to stay…watch India of few years down the road look like Paki of today.
One can picture the gentleman at Davos next year, soliciting investments for his beautiful hill state from delegates who love their veal.
He is competing with Pragya Thakur and Swami Nityananda
What he says is far more benign than what the caste based parties and communal parties like Congress do (and have done) to this country.
